Branding & Identity in Cambridge
A Cambridge business competing against venture-funded rivals rarely needs a new logo. It needs to be clearer about who it's for and what it deliberately gives up, because buyers here read carefully and check claims. We work from Hills Road and start with the commercial question before any design work. Where naming is involved we screen for trademark conflicts, including checking that a name isn't already diluted by Cambridge, Massachusetts or Cambridge, Ontario in search.

About us
Clickscope is a small branding team on Hills Road that Cambridge businesses use for positioning, naming and identity work, built to survive contact with a sceptical, well-funded local market. And because we're a digital marketing agency based right here in Cambridge, you can be sat in our Hills Road office talking branding within the week.
Our MISSION
Fix the positioning, then let the identity follow
We start with who a Cambridge business is actually for and what it deliberately gives up, because buyers here notice a brand that tries to appeal to everyone. From there we build the identity and test it in the situations that matter, a pitch deck, a stand, a work jacket, before it's committed to signage.

Measured on more than preference
We put a baseline in place before work begins, then follow branded search, direct traffic and conversion on the rewritten pages, not gut feel about the new look.
How we run branding and identity for Cambridge businesses
01 / How we work
Positioning before polish
Before a single logo concept, we establish who the brand is for and what it consciously rules out. We then carry that identity across the website, an ad, a proposal and a trade stand, because systems fail at the edges.

Trademark checked before you fall in love with it
Naming work includes trademark screening and a check that the name isn't already diluted by Cambridge, Massachusetts or Ontario in search, before you commit to it.

Every source file transfers to you
Once the final invoice is settled, you receive the vector artwork, colour values and a working guidelines document, plus font licences bought and documented in your name.
Client Results
For one client we tracked an extra £239,000 a month and a 132% year on year revenue increase across search and paid channels, because the baseline was recorded before the work started. We'd not claim identity work produced that, but it's the only honest way to judge any change you make.

FAQ
The questions you actually want answered
Where's your Cambridge studio?
Find us at 9 Hills Road, Cambridge, CB2 1GE, a short walk from the station and about ten minutes from the Biomedical Campus. Come in for a positioning chat, or we'll come to you.
What does a branding project cost to run?
We settle on a fixed price following a scoping conversation, staged through the project rather than billed hourly. Ongoing design support can follow on a rolling monthly retainer later, but it isn't required.
How much time does a branding project need?
Expect six to twelve weeks typically, depending on how much research and application the project needs, plus naming where relevant. Decision-making on your side is usually the slowest part, so we agree sign-off early and keep the group small.
How many different logo concepts do we receive?
We bring one recommended direction, fully applied, with the reasoning behind it and the alternatives we considered and rejected along with why. Four finished options would just invite a decision on taste rather than fit.
Our Cambridge competitors are venture funded and have bigger brand budgets. Can we still compete?
Often, yes. Outspending a well-funded Cambridge competitor on brand production is rarely realistic, but clearer positioning and consistent application at the edges, a proposal, a stand, a signature, usually beats a bigger budget applied inconsistently.
Which Cambridge sectors do you brand and position most?
Technology and deep tech, biotech and life sciences, and intellectual property and commercial law are sectors we position for regularly here. A brand that appeals to everyone tends to be invisible to a specific, technical buyer.
Do you work only with businesses based in Cambridge?
No. We're based at 9 Hills Road in Cambridge but also take on branding work across Suffolk and Essex, including Bury St Edmunds and Saffron Walden. Being local to Cambridge shapes how we work, not who we're willing to brand.
Will a rebrand hurt our Cambridge search visibility?
Only where a domain or name change is mishandled. We plan any domain migration alongside the design work, with redirects and monitoring, and a same-domain refresh carries almost no search risk.
What can we expect during the first 90 days of a branding project?
Research and interviews with your customers and sales team, then positioning, naming if it's needed, and identity development, typically running six to twelve weeks depending on scope. The slowest part is usually sign-off, so we agree who decides at the start.
How can we tell whether the rebrand has been successful?
By branded search volume, direct traffic, click-through rate on the same ad creative with new messaging, and conversion rate on rewritten pages, with a baseline set before the work starts so the comparison means something.
"Cambridge" gets confused with Cambridge, Massachusetts in search. Does that affect a rebrand?
It can, particularly for a new name. We check search visibility and disambiguation as part of naming and screening, so a Cambridge, UK business isn't permanently competing with an American university town for its own name.
